A clean, sustainable, and low-carbon future is what we need to battle climate change and there is no path to Net Zero without nuclear power. It is a proven clean energy source that is scalable and provides reliable, low-cost, carbon-free electricity, 24/7. It is also the largest source of clean electricity in developed economies and the second-largest globally.
Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) have already made substantial commitments to reduce their carbon footprint through nuclear power and develop other initiatives aimed at reaching Net Zero before 2050. Now is the time for action and we are working with others to leverage Ontario’s clean nuclear power and drive further emission reductions. Therefore, as partners to this call to action, we:
- recognize there is no path to Net Zero without nuclear power; and
- we’re asking leaders and policy makers around the world to take a science-led, all–hands-on-deck approach to addressing climate change, which includes nuclear technologies.
